Prerequisites

Course Objectives

Participants will gain knowledge about features and analysis of the key processes and network protocols of Microsoft Windows networks running Active Directory Services from a packet level perspective. With the help of the Wireshark analyzer typical network traffic is analyzed and potential problems are discussed.

    • Integrating DHCP and DNS
  • SMB /CIFS
    • Server Message Block Protocol and CIFS
    • Troubleshooting SMB
  • Remote Procedure Call (RPC/DCE)
  • Authentication with Kerberos
    • Kerberos functions
    • Error messages and policies
    • SNTP
  • LDAP and Active Directory structures
    • LDAP functions and LDAP operation
    • Replication and replication traffic
  • Boot and logon process of Active Directory Clients
  • Lab: Live capture of typical processes
