Course Objectives

After completing this course the student should be able to:

  • Discuss methodology in network design
  • Describe how to structure and modularize the network design using the Cisco Enterprise Architecture
  • Design the enterprise campus and enterprise data center modules
  • Design the remote connectivity modules as needed
  • Design a network addressing plan and select a suitable routing protocol for a given network design
  • Evaluate security solutions for the network
  • Discuss the design implications of voice transport across the network
  • Discuss the design implications of wireless networking
  • Describe additional resources that support configuring and implementing the network design

Course Content

The Designing for Cisco Internetworks Solutions course teaches students general approaches and technologies for network design while promoting Cisco solutions in designing and implementing scalable internetworks.

With the release of DESGN Version 2.1, The following topics have also been added:

  • New technologies was add to reflect the current state of today’s Enterprise network
  • New examples and verification tasks
  • Use of Cisco SAFE Network strategy to design network security
  • Borderless Networks, Collaboration, and Data Center/Virtualization architectures
  • Using the Virtual Switching System (VSS) in the Distribution Layer
  • The Cisco Virtual Office Architecture
  • More comprehensive coverage of IPv6
  • Video Considerations and introduce the H.264 protocol
  • CAPWAP and 802.11n support
